What is Ledger Botje?

Ledger Botje is an MCP server for Exact Online that lets AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Claude read data from Exact Online and carry out actions in it.

What is Ledger Botje?

Ledger Botje is an MCP server for Exact Online: an integration that makes your administration reachable for AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Gemini. You ask a question in plain language and the answer comes from your own Exact Online data, not from the general knowledge of the language model.

Ledger Botje is neither an accounting package nor an AI assistant. It is the layer in between: it translates what the assistant asks into the right data and actions in Exact Online.

  • Category: MCP server for Exact Online (ERP integration).
  • Covers the financial side plus stock, orders, manufacturing, warehousing, projects and CRM.
  • Works without code: no data model, no connector, no installation.
  • Requires an Exact Online account; the supported editions are Trade, Manufacturing, Projects and Accounting.

How does Ledger Botje work?

Ledger Botje runs as a hosted MCP server; nothing is installed on your own machine. The connection is made in four steps.

Once connected, the AI assistant picks the tool it needs itself - sales_orders_search or items_stock, for instance - and phrases the answer in plain language.

  • You create an account and connect your Exact Online administration over OAuth 2.0; no password is shared.
  • You paste the MCP endpoint https://www.ledgerbotje.nl/app/mcp into your AI assistant.
  • The assistant authorises with OAuth 2.1 and mandatory PKCE, then fetches the list of available tools.
  • You ask your question; the tool reads the data from the synchronised copy of your administration.

Which AI assistants are supported?

Ledger Botje works with any AI assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol. Nine assistants have their own setup guide on this site, because each one has its own way of adding an MCP server.

The connection itself is identical for all Large Language Models (LLMs): the same endpoint, the same tools, the same permissions. Only the screen where you add the server differs.

Which parts of Exact Online can be reached?

Ledger Botje opens up 17 modules of Exact Online with 292 MCP tools in total. What each tool does and which parameters it takes is listed on all MCP tools. The table below is derived from the tools themselves, so it moves with every release.

What can Ledger Botje read and write?

Of the 292 MCP tools, 122 are read-only and 170 can write. Reading means querying and analysing; writing means creating and changing - a sales order, a purchase entry or a goods receipt, for example.

Write access is off by default. The owner of the administration enables it per administration on an Advanced plan. While it is off, the server does not return the write tools in tools/list - so the assistant cannot call them, not even by accident.

How is the connection secured?

Ledger Botje works with tokens only: your AI assistant connects with OAuth 2.1 and mandatory PKCE, and Ledger Botje connects to Exact Online with OAuth 2.0. You never hand over a password and you can revoke access at any moment.

The full explanation, including what is logged and for how long, is on security.

  • Servers in the Netherlands, inside the EEA; traffic over HTTPS/TLS.
  • Read-only by default; write tools appear only once you switch them on.
  • Every tool call is logged, and those logs are kept for 180 days.
  • Your data is not used to train AI models.
  • Data processing agreement under article 28 GDPR, generated on data processing agreement.

What does the architecture look like?

Two layers sit between your AI assistant and Exact Online: the MCP protocol at the front and the Exact Online REST API at the back. In between, Ledger Botje keeps a synchronised copy of your administration.

That copy is why a calculation across a full year works: the sum is computed in the database, over every line, instead of over the first few dozen records an API call returns. The copy is refreshed in the evening and refreshes itself as soon as a question touches stale data.

What does Ledger Botje cost?

Ledger Botje costs €39 per month for Basic and €59 per month for Advanced, excluding VAT. Every plan starts with a free 14-day trial, no credit card.

The difference is write access and volume: Basic is read-only on 1 administration with 5,000 AI requests per month, Advanced can also write, covers 10 administrations and has 8,000 requests. Add-ons for extra administrations and extra requests are on pricing.

Who makes Ledger Botje?
