The numbers are in Exact Online. The question is in your head. In between there is usually a report to find, an export to Excel, or a colleague who looks it up for you.
Ledger Botje removes that step. You ask the AI assistant you already use, and the answer comes straight from your own administration. This short video shows what that looks like.
What it is
Ledger Botje is a connection between Exact Online and your AI assistant. The technical name for this is an MCP server: a layer that gives your assistant access to your administration and translates its questions into actions in Exact Online.
More important than the technology is what it means day to day: there is no new screen to learn. You stay in ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, and your administration is simply available there.
What you can ask
A few examples from everyday use:
“How much stock do we have left of item A1001?”
“Which customers still have invoices outstanding for more than 30 days?”
“Show this year profit and loss statement, with the biggest differences compared to last year.”
And because it is the same assistant you use for everything else, you can keep asking. Ask for a chart, for a summary for your accountant, or for the same analysis per month. The tool overview shows what is available; the prompt library gives ready-made examples.
Looking is always allowed, writing is your choice
A new connection is read-only. The assistant can search, add up and analyse, but not create or change anything. If you also want it to create orders or record invoices, you switch on write access yourself in your account.
That order is deliberate. It lets you find out what an AI assistant can do with your administration without anything happening that you did not intend.
What it is not
- Not an export. No copy of your administration goes to an AI company. Per question, the assistant only receives the answer to that question.
- Not a replacement for Exact Online. Your bookkeeping stays where it is. Ledger Botje is the road to it, not a new place to work.
- Not a separate AI subscription. You use the assistant you already have.

How to start
