Exact Online invoicing AI: the next step for Ledger Botje
Ledger Botje started as an AI assistant for warehouse management and logistics in Exact Online. But we have always known that the true power of AI only comes into its own when you can query the full breadth of your ERP system. That is why we are working on an expansion with financial modules — and in this article we give you a first look at what is coming.
Please note: the financial modules are still in development and not yet available. This article is a preview of our plans. We are sharing this so you can get a picture of the direction in which Ledger Botje is evolving.
Query and analyse invoices with AI
One of the most requested features is querying invoices via your AI assistant. Soon you will be able to ask questions such as: "Show all sales invoices from March 2026" or "Which purchase invoices have not been paid yet?" The AI will look this up via the planned invoices.search tool and present the results clearly.
We are also building the ability to compare invoices with orders and deliveries, so you can check in a single question whether an invoice is correct. Read more about how AI accounting already works with Exact Online.
Generate financial reports
The new modules will make it possible to generate financial reports via natural language. Think of questions such as:
- "What is the revenue for Q1 2026 compared to Q1 2025?"
- "Give a profit and loss statement for the past 6 months."
- "How have operating costs developed compared to last year?"
This will be made possible by the planned financials.reports tool that combines data from multiple Exact Online modules into coherent reports.
General ledger analyses and budget vs. actual
For accountants and financial managers this becomes particularly interesting: general ledger analyses via AI. We are working on the ability to search ledger accounts, query balances and compare budget versus actual figures. Imagine asking: "Compare the marketing costs budget with actual expenditure per month." The AI retrieves the ledger data and generates a clear comparison.
This makes month-end closing and quarterly reporting significantly faster, because you no longer have to manually navigate through Exact Online for each analysis.
From warehouse to full ERP: a natural evolution
The expansion to financial modules is a logical step. Our existing users regularly ask for financial data while working with stock and order information. By adding financial modules, Ledger Botje becomes a complete AI layer on top of Exact Online — from warehouse to accounting.
